It is used to measure the Air Temperature

B -Louvres - for air circulation

C - It will avoid heat from the ground to be transported to the to the Stevenson Screen which will then affect the temperature reading of the air. 

D - It is White because White does not trap heat. 

****Important notes to take note... 

• Always take the readings from the bottom of the Index/Marking for the Max & Min temperature of the day.
• Read from the tip of the mercury/alcohol for the current temperature. (both sides should show the same)
